Fabricating 28 Bespoke Wayfinding Signs for the Arsenal Emirates Stadium Tour ⚽
Repeat fabrication presents a different challenge from producing a single bespoke object.
For the Arsenal Emirates Stadium Tour, SCMF manufactured a suite of 28 freestanding aluminium wayfinding signs, comprising both single and double-sided configurations.
The finished signs needed to form a consistent family while incorporating interchangeable display panels that could be updated when required.
Folded 5mm Aluminium Construction
Each sign was fabricated from 5mm aluminium, folded to create the required freestanding structure.
Aluminium provided a robust construction without introducing the unnecessary weight that an equivalent steel structure could create.
For a production run of 28 units, repeatability was particularly important.
Small inconsistencies that may be barely noticeable on an individual fabrication become far more apparent when numerous finished units are positioned within the same environment.
SCMF's wider custom metal fabrication capabilities include sheet-metal work, aluminium fabrication, forming and repeat manufacture for bespoke commercial projects.
Interchangeable Display Panels 🔄
A key feature of the signs was the interchangeable display-panel system.
Rather than permanently applying all visitor information to the main fabricated structure, individual display panels could be changed while retaining the aluminium sign itself.
This provided greater flexibility as wayfinding and visitor-information requirements evolved.
It's a relatively simple detail from the visitor's perspective, but one that makes a substantial difference to the long-term usability of a fabricated signage system.
Powder Coating and In-House Vinyl Application
Following fabrication, the aluminium structures were sent to a specialist contractor for powder coating.
Once returned to the SCMF workshop, the final vinyl graphics were applied in-house.
The project therefore required coordination between fabrication, outsourced specialist finishing and final graphic application before the signs were ready for use.

The completed project produced a coordinated suite of 28 freestanding signs for use throughout the Arsenal Emirates Stadium Tour.
It demonstrates SCMF's ability to combine bespoke fabrication with repeat production, consistent quality control and final detailing.
