The Brief
Hendrick's Gin required an oversized metal watering can for a display at Heathrow Terminal 5. The project began with the client's initial design information, which needed to be developed into a practical fabrication solution before manufacture could begin.
Technical Development
The initial design was developed in 3D to establish the form, proportions and construction of the finished piece. This allowed the fabrication method to be considered before material was cut and provided a clear link between the original concept and workshop manufacture.

Fabrication
The watering can was meticulously developed, laser cut and hand-formed to create its distinctive geometry at a much larger scale than the original object.
Fabricating the complex form in mild steel was a significant technical challenge, with the individual sections carefully formed, welded and blended to create a seamless surface ready for the final painted finish.
The result transformed the developed 3D design into a large-scale sculptural piece while retaining the instantly recognisable character of the original Hendrick's watering can.
Finished Result
The completed watering can was finished and supplied for installation at Hendrick's Gin's Heathrow Terminal 5 display, turning the original concept into a large-scale physical piece designed for a highly visible commercial environment.
